Theo Demanez - Freestyle & Strapless Wave-riding Legend

Introducing Theo Demanez the freestyle and strapless wave-riding legend of the new generation

Théo Demanez has been making serious waves on the global kite scene. Born and raised in Saint Martin, Théo grew up chasing wind and waves on some of the Caribbean’s most beautiful beaches. His smooth approach to both freestyle and surf have made him one of the most exciting young riders to watch. After years of grinding and traveling, his passion finally paid off with an epic win at the GKA Kite World Cup in Sylt, Germany.

Here is what Theo has to say:

I’ve been riding strapless for over 10 years, and I started learning my first tricks on a 10m Switchblade. Back home in St Martin, I trained with it in light wind conditions similar to what we had during the competition, so the 10m Switchblade is a kite I really trust in terms of performance, which gave me a lot of confidence throughout the event.

The competition in Sylt started with really light wind, so choosing the right kite was crucial. I decided to ride the 10m Switchblade, smaller than most riders, because it’s powerful, fast, and super reliable when the wind gets tricky. That choice paid off; I managed to land all the key tricks during the freestyle rounds, even in borderline conditions.

When the format switched to waves, I changed to my 11m Drifter, which gave me the perfect balance to keep pushing until the end. The conditions felt similar to home, so it was definitely an advantage for me. Standing on top of the podium after such a day was a true reward for trusting the process and the gear.

Wow!

So stoked to hear your story, truly remarkable and absolutely legendary. Thank you and can’t wait to see whats in the works for the future.

Keep on adventuring!
