Brazil travel requirements and practical information
Travel to Brazil is simple and straightforward.
• Entry: Valid passport required (must be valid for your stay)
• VISA: A tourist e-visa is required for US Citizens and is a quick, simple online process. Most European, Canadian and Central/South American travellers do not require a visa.
• Insurance: Travel and medical insurance is recommended.
• Money: Credit cards are widely accepted, though carrying some Brazilian Real (BRL) for small purchases can be convenient.
• Electricity: 220V — bring a universal adapter.
• Internet: WiFi is available at the house, and both global and local SIM/eSIM options work well.
• Language: Portuguese, but we'll support you locally and make everything easy.
Tip: Requirements can change, so we always recommend checking the latest official travel guidelines before departure.
What airport should I fly into?
Fly into Fortaleza (FOR) — just 90 minutes away from Fortim on a smooth, all-highway drive.
There are seasonal non-stop flights from Miami (MIA) with LATAM and GOL (American Airlines codeshare), as well as easy connections through São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and other major Brazilian hubs.
Arrival and transfer details
From the moment you land, everything is taken care of.
Our team will be waiting for you outside customs, ready to welcome you. You'll then enjoy a comfortable 90-minute air-conditioned transfer directly to Vila Cabrinha.
Your equipment travels with you, making arrival completely seamless and stress-free.
What's the weather like? What should I pack?
Warm, sunny and windy every day.
Expect temperatures around 28–32°C (82–90°F). Most guests live in t-shirts, shorts and flip-flops throughout the trip.
Water temperatures average 26–28°C (79–82°F), making a rash guard ideal for comfort and sun protection. If you tend to get cold, bring a light layer for early mornings or evening sessions.
Don't forget plenty of sunscreen.
Tell me more about Fortim. What's there to do outside the water?
Fortim is a charming fishing village that has quietly evolved into one of Brazil's most unique kiteboarding destinations.
Alongside authentic local culture, you'll find excellent restaurants, fresh seafood, welcoming locals and beautiful beaches.
Outside of watersports, guests can explore the surrounding coastline by buggy, enjoy guided dune adventures, visit nearby beaches, or take scenic boat tours through the stunning Jaguaribe River Delta.
It's the perfect balance of adventure, relaxation and authentic Brazilian charm.
Tell me more about the spot
Fortim sits within the Jaguaribe River Delta. At low tide, a huge flat-water lagoon over 3km long forms, creating ideal conditions for learning, freeriding and freestyle riding.
Beyond the lagoon, a reef creates playful kickers that are perfect for strapless riding, while nearby wave spots provide excellent conditions for winging and wave riding.
The coastline also offers incredible downwind opportunities along one of Brazil's most beautiful and largely untouched stretches of shoreline.
Do I need to know how to kite already?
Not at all.
Fortim offers ideal learning conditions with flat, shallow water and reliable wind.
We can arrange beginner lessons, advanced coaching and wing lessons for guests of all experience levels.
Can I join if I don't plan to do watersports?
Absolutely.
Vila Cabrinha is designed for relaxation as much as riding. Enjoy the beachfront location, pool, cold plunge, local restaurants, village atmosphere and authentic Brazilian experiences while others are on the water.
Is gear included? What kite sizes should I bring?
Gear rental is available on-site for the most convenient and hassle-free experience.
If you'd rather bring your own equipment, Adventure Sports can assist with special pricing to help complete your setup.
Typical conditions are 15–22 knots:
• Most men ride 9m–12m kites
• Women and younger riders typically use 7m–11m kites
• Wing sizes generally range from 3.5m–5.5m
Is local transportation included?
Yes.
A buggy will be provided for every group of four guests and is available throughout your stay.
It's a fun and convenient way to explore the village and access nearby riding spots. Please follow all local regulations and safety guidelines while using it.
Is my trip automatically confirmed when I book?
Not always.
Each trip week requires a minimum of six guests to run.
Once your week is confirmed, we'll notify you immediately. If a week doesn't fill, you'll have the option to move to another available week or receive a full refund.
We recommend waiting for trip confirmation before booking flights, as flight costs and other travel expenses cannot be reimbursed.
What is not included?
Flights, dinners, alcoholic drinks, travel insurance and optional add-ons such as lessons, coaching, gear rental, yoga sessions and additional experiences are not included unless specifically stated.
